MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian Deputy Energy Minister Sergei Mochalnikov has been detained in connection to a fraud investigation related to the coal industry, Russian news agency Interfax reported on Thursday.
Earlier on Thursday, Russian media reported the detention of Anatoly Yanovsky, a former deputy energy minister, also on fraud charges related to coal.
Neither Mochalnikov or Yanovsky were available for comment, and Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) did not immediately confirm the detentions.
