MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) โ Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) and Moorhead Area Public Schools have announced the launch of the Moorhead Scholars program, a new initiative offering full-tuition coverage for high-performing local students.
The partnership, introduced today, guarantees free tuition at MSUM for Moorhead High School graduates who meet specific criteria. Starting with the Class of 2025, students who maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 1, and enroll full-time at MSUM following graduation will be eligible for the scholarship. The program covers any remaining tuition costs after other financial aid has been applied. The Moorhead Scholars program is accomplished through a combination of federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships.
Moorhead Public Schools Superintendent Brandon Lunak said, โThis program aligns perfectly with our goal to help students thrive in a changing world.โ The partnership aims to support academic excellence and strengthen the community by encouraging local talent to pursue higher education close to home. Dr. Tim Downs, President of MSU Moorhead, said, โBy investing in the next generation of scholars, we are investing in the future of our community.โ
