Winona, Minn. (KFGO) — A man is facing assault charges after a shooting near the campus of Winona State University.
Officers were called early yesterday morning after a gunshot was reported on the 300 block of West 10th Street. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim, a 35-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital in Wisconsin in critical condition.
Investigators say 27-year-old Cole Cameron, of Winona was in an argument with the man before the shooting happened.
Cameron was arrested for first-degree assault and booked into the Winona County Jail.
