We live in world were ego, power, arrogance bulldoze over the humble, soft and quiet? Why?
Here’s a good reminder from one of my favorite early morning devotionals
Though our world usually does not regarded the trait of meekness highly, God views it differently. Meekness is a character trait Jesus used to describe Himself. Meekness is one of the complimentary descriptions God gives to His faith servants. “(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth)” (Numbers 12:3). And meekness is something that is produced in our lives as we walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23).
Meekness is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of Christlikeness. The unlimited power Jesus possessed was never uncontrolled, and He always used it to help others rather than to promote His own interests and desires. We have nothing to prove to the world around us, but instead are called to imitate the life and attitudes of Jesus.
A. W. Tozer wrote, “The meek man is not a human mouse afflicted with a sense of his own inferiority. Rather he may be in his moral life as bold as a lion and as strong as Samson; but he has stopped being fooled about himself. He has accepted God’s estimate of his own life. He knows he is as weak and helpless as God declared him to be, but paradoxically, he knows at the same time that he is in the sight of God of more importance than angels. In himself, nothing; in God, everything. That is his motto.”
