FARGO (KFGO) โ There was a shooting in downtown Fargo early Thursday morning.
A man was wounded and taken to Sanford Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. It happened at the corner of 3rd Avenue N. and Broadway outside Sammyโs Pizza and Restaurant around 2:30 a.m.
Police say the suspect fled before officers arrived. Investigators believe the victim and suspect knew each other and do not believe there is an active threat to the public.
A man who asked not to be named was working at a business directly across the street on Broadway and was outside in the entryway taking a break when he saw the shooting.
He told KFGO News he saw a white van with someone in the passenger seat talking. He then heard a gunshot and watched the van drive off. The worker ran over and used his sweater to cover the victimโs chest wound before going back into the store and telling another employee to call 911.
The employee then ran back to help the victim until police and ambulance arrived.
Police are investigating the case and they have no further information to release at this time.
