MANKATO, Minn. (KFGO) — A southern Minnesota man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of a woman and terrorizing a child last year.
Dustin Murilla, 35, was arrested in May 2023 after a high-speed police chase through Mankato, after citizens reported his erratic driving. Authorities say that Murilla was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time. Police stopped Murilla’s car by ramming it, and shortly after, the stabbing victim got out of the car, covered in blood, and collapsed. She died later at a hospital, having suffered 36 stab wounds.
Earlier that day, Murilla also attacked an 11-year-old child, tying her up and threatening her with a knife. Court records show that Murilla has a prior conviction for attempted murder in 2013.
