FARGO (KFGO) – Bail has been set for a couple facing felony charges in North Dakota tied to a non-profit they said was providing after school programs for children and other services.
Faith and Charles Dixon were arrested in Fargo. The charges were filed following an investigation by the bureau of criminal investigation into the use of grant money from the department of public instruction.
They’re represented by Moorhead attorney Dane Dekrey, who spoke on their behalf at a bond hearing.
“Both of the Dixons are long-time members of the Fargo-Moorhead Community, 20+ years,” Dekrey said Wednesday. “They have deep ties to this community; neither have any criminal history. This case does not involve violence or danger in any way. There is no risk that they will be leaving the jurisdiction.”
Faith Dixon said told Judge Bobbi Weiler she is “looking to move forward and fight this case.”
Bail was set at $5,000. The Dixons could be released from the Cass County Jail if they post $500 cash.
Faith Dixon is charged with five felonies. Her husband faces two felony counts. The charges say the couple used grant money from the state for personal purchases, and contracts with family members. The charges were filed in Burleigh County District Court.
