FARGO (KFGO) – State charges against a man arrested after a Fargo murder have been dropped as a federal case will continue.
Amire Logan, 20, was arrested by Fargo Police for murder after the June 24 shooting death of Zion Brooks at the Arbors apartment complex in south Fargo. He was never charged with murder. Investigators learned Brooks had a gun when he was killed. Brooks’ body was on top of a 9mm handgun. A .45 casing was found nearby. Logan was charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
Logan was arrested again after a September traffic stop. Police found a gun in his backpack, and the gun’s serial number had been scratched off. When he was booked, Cass County Jail staff found two small bags with cocaine and marijuana. Logan was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, illegally altering a firearm, and drug possession.
All open state charges against Logan were dropped October 11. The Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office says the cases were dismissed because the U.S. will prosecute Logan.
