NEW YORK – McDonald’s is suing four of the nation’s largest meatpackers, including two headquartered in Minnesota.
The company alleges that Minnesota-based J-B-S and Cargill, along with Tyson and National Meat Packing Company and their subsidiaries, are involved in a price-fixing scheme specifically for beef.
In a federal complaint filed in New York, McDonald’s has accused the companies of engaging in anti-competitive measures, such as collectively limiting supply to boost prices and charging “illegally inflated” amounts.
The companies involved have not commented on the allegations in the lawsuit.
