MINNETONKA, Minn. (KFGO) – A 58-year-old man from Becker, Minnesota, was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening in Minnetonka, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Garrett Dawson was riding westbound on Highway 12 near Carlson Parkway when he struck a concrete curb. Both Dawson and his passenger, Melissa Varner, 58, of Buffalo, Minnesota, were thrown from the bike.
Dawson was pronounced dead at the scene. Varner sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to North Memorial Hospital.
Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
The Minnetonka Police Department, North Memorial EMS, and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
