GRAND FORKS AFB (KFGO/KNOX) – For the first time since 1994, a B-1B bomber touched down Tuesday on the Grand Forks Air Force Base runway.
Lt. Col. Nate Butler is the director of the commander’s action wing at Ellsworth Air Base in South Dakota. He says the B-1B support group tested the Grand Forks Air Force Base underground refueling system, which Lt. Col. Butler says “worked out beautifully. It was a highly successful test.”
Grand Forks Air Force Base is a leading contender for every aircraft from Ellsworth to be relocated to while their runway is torn up in preparation for the B-21.
