BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported crash about 5 miles north of Wilton Wednesday afternoon that resulted in one fatality.
Around 3:30 at the intersection of US83 and ND41, a car driven by a 72-year-old woman from Mercer, ND, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with an SUV heading north on US83. Both vehicles ended up in the median, which briefly caught fire but was quickly extinguished by the Wilton Fire Department.
The car’s driver was transported to Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, where she was pronounced dead. The SUV driver and a passenger suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the SUV was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
