GRAFTON, N.D. (KFGO) – A 59-year-old Grafton man is in the Walsh County jail after a standoff Friday morning in Grafton.
According to the Grafton Police Department, officers were called to a house fire where they learned it was intentionally set by a man who used to live there. A release says Ernesto Aguilar got into a fight with people living in the house and set a fire inside.
Aguilar then got into a fight with officers, armed himself with a knife, got into a vehicle and left. Police found Aguilar and surrounded his vehicle and a standoff began.
Officers arrested Aguilar after breaking a window and deploying pepper balls into the vehicle.
Aguilar is facing charges of endangerment by fire, terrorizing, and violating a domestic protection order.
