FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO) – A Fergus Falls woman was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to threatening a man in Fergus Falls.
According to court documents, police were called to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a car last September. Witnesses said a car drove up to an intersection and the people inside began yelling at the man. As he began crossing the street, the car accelerated and swerved toward him.
The victim told officers he recorded the interaction.
The video shows the car accelerating toward the victim and the passenger door swinging open before the camera points up and the recording stops. The victim identified the passenger as 43-year-old Kristin Nichols.
Nichols told officers she and the victim had been arguing recently and when she saw him, she told the driver to drive toward him. That’s when she opened the door to hit them as they drove by.
Officers interviewed the driver who said Nichols said to drive straight, and denied knowing Nichols would hit the man with the door.
After being arrested, Nichols threatened to continue assaulting the man.
Under a plea agreement, the prosecution dropped an assault charge.
