FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) – Winter preparations are underway at Fargo Public Works.
Crews are repairing equipment, analyzing routes, and making sure that when the snow arrives they are ready to clear it efficiently.
During snow cleanup, the equipment needs to be repaired regularly.
Fleet Manager Allan Erickson says that while last year’s relatively light winter didn’t cause a lot of damage to equipment, it still had a big impact on how Public Works is preparing for this year.
“We had a lot of repairs to do because of previous heavy winters,” Erickson says. “So, the impact of a light winter allowed us to catch up. We had plenty of repairs to do.”
Erickson added that they always plan for the worst, and that long-term forecasts don’t factor into their preparations.
