MANDAN, N.D. (KFGO) – Funeral services are set for former North Dakota Deputy Attorney General Troy Seibel, who died September 3.
An obituary says family and friends will gather Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. at Dawise-Perry Crematory in Mandan. The obituary does not say how or where Seibel died. The crematory says Seibel’s family has asked that the location of his death not be shared.
Seibel, who was 48, was married with two daughters.
Seibel was serving as attorney general Wayne Stenehjem’s deputy when Stenehjem died in January 2022. He resigned two months later after Drew Wrigley was appointed to the position by Governor Doug Burgum. Stenehjem’s former executive assistant, Liz Brocker, has said Seibel told her to have Stenehjem’s state email account erased. Seibel’s account was also deleted. Some copies of Stenehjem’s emails were later discovered during the federal investigation into former state Senator Ray Holmberg, R-Grand Forks.
Holmberg pleaded guilty last month to a federal child sex tourism charge. A sentencing date for Holmberg has not been set.
