JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) – Jamestown fire chief Jim Reuther says investigation is underway to determine the cause of an explosion and fire that severely injured one person and caused extensive damage to a home and nearby property early Thursday morning.
Reuther says the house and garage were fully involved in the fire when firefighters arrived.
A 55-year-old resident suffered severe burns and was transported by ambulance to the Jamestown Regional Medical center and later flown to a Minneapolis hospital. One pet died in the fire. Reuther says there were “multiple” reports of the explosion .
The fire was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. Fire crews were on scene for about 4 hours.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and state Fire Marshal’s Office are involved in the investigation.
