MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota BCA is naming the armed man shot by a police officer early Saturday in south Minneapolis.
40-year-old Nathan Matz remains hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to survive.
Agents say Sergeant Ben Bauer discharged his rifle, striking Matz in the jaw. Officers were called to the report of a man firing a rifle at an apartment building and located Matz in a stairwell with an AK-47 in his hand. That’s when he was shot by Sergeant Bauer.
Agents say there was gunshot damage in the apartment and to homes and vehicles outside the building. No other injuries are reported.
