CLAY COUNTY, MINN. (KFGO) – Two men have been arrested for theft of an expensive generator and trailer in Clay County.
Sunday morning, sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of 90th Avenue North and 170th Street, located west of Hitterdal. The equipment is estimated at approximately $45,000 and is used to run an irrigation system.
A deputy located a vehicle leaving the area and stopped the driver who said he was there to help some friends with a stuck vehicle. While searching for the vehicle and the other people, the stolen generator and the vehicle were found.
Deputies set up a perimeter and started searching for the suspects. They found one of the suspects walking along a gravel road. Jason Justin, 37, of Pelican Rapids was arrested.
Late Sunday night, a state trooper located another man walking along the road who was sweating, dirty, and not carrying any personal items. Joshua Moen, 44, of Crosby, Minnesota, was arrested.
Both Moen and Austin are facing felony theft and misdemeanor trespassing charges.
