St. Cloud, MN – A St. Cloud man has pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon while robbing a convenience store.
St. Cloud police responded to a Marathon gas station around 10 p.m. May 1st on the 911 report of a man with a knife fighting a store employee. The suspect, 27-year-old Jonathan Jovel, tried to buy $130 worth of THC vape products but didn’t have enough money and was told to leave. Jovel left, returned 30 minutes later, jumped over the counter, threatened an employee with a knife, and asked for everything in the register. The two moved into the parking lot after the employee tried to run.
The victim wrestled the knife away and held Jovel until officers arrived. Jovel did appear to be intoxicated at the time of the arrest.
