DULUTH, Minn. (KFGO KDAL) – Following reports of residents finding hundreds of dead fish along Tischer Creek in Duluth last week, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and the Department of Natural Resources have begun an investigation into a possible cause.
The DNR confirmed that over 1,000 fish were found dead including hundreds of brook trout. Evidence indicates that the fish kill did not occur naturally and field crews have collected fish and water samples analysis.
The dead fish were reported on August 1 after 400,000-500,000 gallons of water was released from a reservoir owned by the city.
The MPCA has no evidence to indicate that nearby construction contributed to the fish kill.
