FARGO (KFGO) โ The Italian Air Force Aerobatic Squadron, Frecce Tricolori โ Italian for The Tricolour Arrows โ made a quick stop in Fargo as 10 jet aircraft arrived from Canada and created an amazing site as the precision demonstration jets flew into the city Monday night, landing at Hector International Airport. This is the first time theyโve been to Fargo and the first time in 32 years the Italian aircraft have made the journey to North America.
Lt. Colonel Massimiliano Salvatore, commander with the Italian-built Aermacchi B-339 jets said the tour is a dream for him. The team is famous for its smoke trails representing the national colours of Italy which were seen Monday evening over the Fargo area.
The Tricolor Arrows group wonโt be able to perform at the Fargo Air Sho this weekend as they continue on their way from Moosejaw, Saskatchewan to the annual Experimental Aircraft Association Air Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The 313th Aerobatic Training Squadron is comprised of about 100 members, including 10 โcombat-ready pilotsโ from operational squadrons.
The squadron has been headquartered at the Rivolto Air Base in Italy since its inception in 1961. The team has done two previous North American tours in 1986 and 1992.
The Air Force team will fly back to Italy in August.
