
BIG LAKE, Minn. – Two 17-year-old Elk River boys were killed and another suffered life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday in Big Lake northwest of the Twin Cities.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the driver – Anthony Krider – and a passenger – Donovan Gobel – died at the scene. A second passenger – Charles Gabrelcik – was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Troopers say a Big Lake police officer saw the car speeding on Highway 25, turned around to make a traffic stop, and came upon the crash scene. The car had left the roadway, rolled, and struck a tree.
The report says it is unknown whether alcohol was involved. All three were wearing seatbelts.
