CARRINGTON, N.D. (KFGO) – North Dakota Response has issued a temporary flight restriction over the train derailment southeast of Carrington.
The restriction, which extends to a radius of one nautical mile around and 1,000 feet above the center of the derailment site, is in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday.
The only aircraft allowed in the area are for approved emergency services.
The restrictions come after a train carrying hazardous material including anhydrous ammonia, methanol, and sulfur derailed about 10 miles southeast of Carrington early Friday morning. Some of the cars caught fire.
As of Friday night, crews were still working to put the fires out in order to begin cleaning the site.
