WEST FARGO (KFGO) – Multiple crews from West Fargo and Fargo responded to a fire smoldering at the Cargill plant on 7th Avenue NE in West Fargo. The call came in around 7:15 a.m. Friday. The fire was in a building containing crushed sunflower hulls.
Firefighters worked to find the source of the blaze and set up ladder trucks to check the building from the roof. West Fargo Fire Chief Dan Fuller says one concern was an explosion from the dust inside the building. The fire started in a conveyor system that had jammed. Fuller says crews had to pull hoses a long distance once inside the building and go up four flights of stairs.
They were on the scene for more than three hours. The Horace Fire Department was placed on standby to cover any calls that came in while West Fargo Fire was at the plant. There were no injuries.
