WEST FARGO (KFGO) โ Charges are filed against a Fargo man accused of fleeing police at speeds over 100 miles per hour on Main Avenue in West Fargo.
According to West Fargo Police, 21-year-old Isaac Teegarden was driving a car that passed an officer in the opposite direction on Main Avenue late Wednesday night. On the way by, the car accelerated quickly and the officer said the tires screeched.
According to court records, the officer made a U-turn and tried to make a traffic stop, but โthe vehicle continued to fleeโฆ quickly got up to speeds of well over 100 miles an hour and began to pull awayโฆโ
Eventually, the carโs lights went dark and it turned onto Center Street. Another officer said that car was the same one the other officer was pursuing.
Other officers responded, including one with a thermal drone, and found the suspect car in a residential driveway. An officer spoke with a neighbor who claimed to know the owner of the car and said the ownerโs son, Isaac, was probably driving it.
The officer called Teegarden who denied driving the car. He said he loaned it to a person he met at a car meet, but couldnโt give the officer the personโs last name.
While the officer was talking to Teegarden, another officer was able to watch a neighborโs security camera footage that showed a man and woman running from the car. With the help of the thermal drone, officers tracked the suspects to a group of people nearby.
Teegarden continued to deny driving the car, but the woman eventually admitted she was in the car. She said Teegarden was driving and that she was scared during the pursuit.
When officers told Teegarden, he said it would be โher word against his.โ
Teegarden is charged with fleeing an officer โ risk of death of serious bodily injury and reckless endangerment โ extreme indifference.
Both charges are felonies.
