FARGO (KFGO) – During the past weekend, the Fargo Police Department, partnering with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol deployed resources across Fargo, to crack down on speeding and exhibition driving.
Starting around 5 p.m. Friday through early morning on Saturday, the traffic enforcement efforts resulted in 63 traffic stops. Fargo police issued 60 citations, The Fargo Police also made two arrests for Driving Under the Influence and the lesser-known DUI charge of Actual Physical Control. APC is given out when a person is not driving, but they are still in control of the vehicle:
* Driving under the influence – two (2)
* Charged as an actual physical control DUI charge – one (1)
* Speeding – twenty-two (22)
* Red Light Violations – six (6)
* Expired Registration – nine (9)
* Illegal Window Tint – five (5)
* Loud Exhaust – five (5)
* Exhibition Driving – three (3)
* Seatbelt Violation – two (2)
* No Front License Plate Displayed – two (2)
* Rear Motorcycle Plate – one (1)
* Additional Driver (fled from officers) for this violation – one (1)
* Driving Under Suspension – two (2)
* Stop Sign Violation – one (1)
Around 6 p.m. Friday, a group of motorcyclists fled a traffic stop and Fargo Police were not able to find them.
Increased foot patrols were also assigned to the Downtown area for safety and deter criminal activity.
The results of the efforts of the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Cass County Sheriff’s Office are still being tabulated.
