MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Around two dozen people took part in a march Tuesday to bring awareness and justice to the case of a 3-year-old boy who died under suspicious circumstances in Moorhead 90 days ago.
Eastyn Deronjic was found not breathing at an apartment on Belsley Boulevard and died at a Fargo hospital in late March.
Moorhead police said Deronjic and a sibling had been staying at the apartment for some time and were being cared for by an acquaintance of his parents at the time of his death. The sibling was placed with Clay County Social Services.
Deronjic’s uncle and godfather Katterius Reams says they made the three-mile walk through the city because they want to know what happened. Prior to the march, Reams said he knows investigators are working, but he wants them to work harder.
Several members of Deronjic’s family met with police officers to hear an update on the case.
Reams says they accomplished their goal of talking with the police, even though they didn’t get the answers they were looking for.
“They just told us to be patient. We are,” Reams says. “We don’t blame Moorhead Police for anything. We know that they’re helping us and they stay in contact with us, but we wanted to make sure that they still hear my nephew’s voice.”
Police say there isn’t anything new to report as they wait on autopsy results from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.
