MCKENZIE COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – Four people were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 23 west of New Town, North Dakota shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday.
The Highway Patrol says an SUV struck the rear of a sports car that was stopped, waiting to make a turn off the highway onto a gravel road. The collision sent the car into a ditch and the SUV crossed into the opposite lane of the highway and crashed into a pickup truck.
The three Minot occupants in the SUV, a man, a woman, and an 8-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospitals in Watford City, Minot, and Fargo. The driver of the sports car, from Michigan, North Dakota, who was also seriously injured, was flown to a Bismarck hospital.
A passenger in the sports car and the driver of the pickup had minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
