CASS COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – A semi-truck driver from Florida was charged after his truck crashed on I-94 at the Casselton exit shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The Highway Patrol says the semi driver, 56-year-old Scott Pettingill, was hauling an empty cattle trailer traveling westbound on the interstate when it went off the roadway and into the ditch. The trailer then jack-knifed and separated from the semi-truck. Approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the truck. Casselton and Fargo fire departments with Hazmat measures were able to contain the fuel from spreading into the surrounding waterways. It was raining at the time,
Westbound I-94 was reduced to one lane for about 2 hours while the emergency crews removed the truck and investigated the crash.
Pettingill was charged with driving under suspension and cited for log book violations and care required.
