GLENWOOD, Minn. (KFGO) – Three years after a fatal drug overdose in west central Minnesota, the Pope County Sheriff’s Office says a person has been found guilty of aiding and abetting murder in the case.
In February 2021, 31-year-old Tyler Kirckof was found unresponsive in Glenwood, about 15 miles south of Alexandria. Kirckof died several days later.
Pope County and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigators worked to determine who was involved in the overdose. Eventually, charges were brought against four people.
In February 2023, 37-year-old Jorma Thorton of Terrace pleaded guilty to 5th degree controlled substance crime – conspiracy. In April 2023, 49-year-old Kevin Lopez of Alexandria pleaded guilty to 4th degree controlled substance crime – conspiracy.
This January, 33-year-old Theresa Massey of Minneapolis was found guilty of 3rd degree controlled substance crime – aiding and abetting.
On Friday, a jury found 27-year-old Samuel Long of Richfield guilty of aiding and abetting murder and two counts of drug crimes in Kirckof’s death.
