FARGO (KFGO) – Brake problems are being blamed for a five vehicle crash that backed up traffic on westbound Interstate 94 and both directions of 25th Street S. in Fargo Wednesday.
The Highway Patrol says the crash happened at the top of the exit ramp from the interstate to 25th Street S.
According to the Highway Patrol, three vehicles were stopped in the right turn lane and one vehicle was stopped in the middle lane. A fifth vehicle, an SUV driven by Jesse Hoeper, approached the stop light, but didn’t slow down.
Hoeper tried to evade the crash by splitting the middle and right lane. His SUV side-swiped two of the vehicles and rear-ended a third, pushing that vehicle into the first car in line in the right turn lane.
The driver of the rear-ended vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Hoeper was cited for operation of an unsafe vehicle due to uncorrected brake issues.
