ROSEAU, Minn. (KFGO/KVRR) — A daycare provider in Roseau, Minnesota faces felony charges after deputies say she admitted to spanking a child out of frustration.
Arrial Lovelace, 33, is charged with 3rd degree assault and malicious punishment of a child.
Authorities were contacted Wednesday by a social worker with Roseau County Social Services after a parent reported that their child was assaulted at the daycare on Tuesday.
The mother of the victim showed the officer photos of an adult sized handprint on the buttock of the 3-year-old child and bruising.
Lovelace stopped by the sheriff’s office to be interviewed and said she did not mean to do it, saying she was trying to smack the child’s hand out of the way while changing her and missed.
A $500 bail has been posted and Lovelace has an initial appearance set for June 3.
