sobriety checkpoint in Fargo (KFGO News file)
FARGO (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol along with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Fargo Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint at a predetermined, undisclosed location in Cass County on Saturday. Following the checkpoint, the patrol will conduct saturation patrols in the county.
The checkpoint and saturation event are part of the patrol’s ongoing work to maintain safety and encourage people to make responsible driving decisions.
Through May 9, there have been 18 fatal crashes on North Dakota roads and nearly 30% involved alcohol.
“It’s a great time to be outside and enjoy golfing, time at the lake, get-togethers for weddings, graduations, or family celebrations. If any activities involve alcohol, make the responsible decision to designate a sober driver or plan for a rideshare home,” said Sgt. Kristjan Helgoe.
The checkpoint and saturation patrols are part of the state’s Vision Zero program, designed to reduce traffic fatalities.
