WASHINGTON (KFGO) – Monday night, Fargo Police Officers attended the Candlelight Vigil on the National Mall in Washington, DC to honor officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023. The name of Officer Jake Wallin is among the 282 names added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
During the emotional event, 23-year-old Officer Wallin’s name was read aloud. The Fargo Police Department in a statement said, “This night was truly breathtaking and powerful. Officer Jake Wallin’s memory will never be forgotten.”
Wallin was shot and killed on July 14 as he and other officers responded to a traffic crash in Fargo.
Pope County, Minn. Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Owen was also honored during the vigil on the National Mall. The 44-year-old Owen was shot and killed last April during a domestic call in Cyrus.
