MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota Police Department will be taking more 911 calls in neighborhoods near the campus to help the short-staffed Minneapolis Police Department.
University of Minnesota Police chief Matt Clark told the Board of Regents there have been some delayed response times in the Dinkytown, Stadium Village, and Marcy Homes neighborhoods.
A spokesperson for the Minneapolis Police Department says they will continue to work closely with university police in the campus area.
Minneapolis Police Department officers will still handle major crimes in those neighborhoods.
