BUFFALO, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has updated its report on a crash involving a BNSF work pickup and an SUV on the railroad tracks in Buffalo Wednesday.
It was initially reported that the SUV t-boned the work pickup, but the Highway Patrol now says the work pickup t-boned the SUV. The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on the tracks that cross Highway 38 on the western edge of town.
The crossing has stop arms and lights, but they were not activated at the time. The Highway Patrol says rail vehicles like the pickup don’t normally trigger the automatic activation of the arms and lights.
Three people in the SUV, ranging in age from 71- to 75-years old, and the BNSF worker suffered minor injuries and were taken to Sanford in Fargo.
The crash is under investigation.
