BUFFALO, N.D. (KFGO) โ Four people, including a BNSF railroad worker, suffered minor injuries in a crash at the railroad crossing in Buffalo in western Cass County Wednesday.
According to the Highway Patrol, a BNSF work pickup was on the tracks crossing Highway 38 when it was t-boned by an SUV shortly after 9:30 a.m.
The three people in the SUV, driver 72-year-old Patty Hoag, passengers 75-year-old Myron Hoag, both of Hunter, North Dakota, and 71-year-old Laurel McPherson, of Erie, North Dakota, and BNSF truck driver 47-year-old Travis Fortier, of Jamestown, North Dakota, were all taken to Sanford Health in Fargo for medical treatment.
The crossing at the western edge of town has stop arms and lights, but they were not activated at the time. The Highway Patrol says rail vehicles like the pickup donโt normally trigger the automatic activation of the arms and lights.
The crash is under investigation.
