BISMARCK, ND (KFGO PRAIRIE PUBLIC RADIO) โ One of the declared candidates for the Republican nomination for North Dakota US House seat said he will not attend the state endorsing convention.
Former state Senator Tom Campbell said he made that decision after candidate Julie Fedorchak said she would run in the primary, whether she received the formal party endorsement or not.
Campbell said others, including many Republican legislators, will also skip their endorsing conventions and go right to the primary.
โIโm a man of the people,โ Campbell said. โI want the people to decide, not just a few of the top elected leaders who want to make that pick. I just donโt agree with that โ it rubs me the wrong way.โ
Campbell said it isnโt fair to have a handful of the party members make that call.
Campbell said heโs working on visiting every town and city in North Dakota with a population of over 100.
โIโm turning this election into a contact sport,โ Campbell said. โI like to shake hands one at a time.โ Campbell has also launched an online campaign.
