FARGO (KFGO) – A former West Fargo school principal who was charged in state court with child pornography and sexual misconduct with a child is now facing similar federal charges.
David George, 39, is accused of taking an underage boy out of state to have sex in October of 2022. George is also charged federally with receiving, possessing, and distributing child pornography between January 2020 and August 2023. At least one of the children involved in the child pornography was around five years old.
According to the federal indictment, George “knowingly transported, and caused to be transported, Jon Doe, who had not attained the age of 18 years, in interstate commerce, from the state of North Dakota to the state of South Dakota, with the intent that such individual engage in sexual activity.”
George was arrested in August and is being held in the Cass County Jail.
On the same day as his arrest, George resigned as principal of Independence Elementary. He had been with the West Fargo School District for nearly 10 years.
Late last year, the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation informed the school district that the case involved a student.
Federal prosecutors filed charges against George last Thursday. The state charges were dropped Tuesday.
