Investigation continues into fire that destroyed Lutsen Lodge

DULUTH, Minn. (KFGO) – The investigation into the fire that destroyed the historic Lutsen Lodge on Lake Superior continues.    

Minnesota State Fire Marshal Daniel Krier says investigators will begin digging through debris starting Monday. Krier is asking people to give investigators space and reminds the public that the scene is a safety risk.   

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is restricting public access to the area.    

Fire ripped through the lodge in the early morning hours of Feb. 6.   

Regulators say the lodge had three unresolved violations from a recent fire code inspection, but it wasn’t clear if those violations played a role in the blaze.
