ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota DNR has reported that the number of moose in the state has stabilized after a significant drop in the last few decades.
The department recently conducted its annual aerial moose count and found that there are just under 3,500 moose. The DNR attributes the drop in the population to climate change, predators, and parasites.
Those factors have collectively reduced the moose population by about 60% since the early 2000s.
