MINNEAPOLIS – Major events are expected to draw more than 200,000 people to Minneapolis over the next week and a half.
Meet Minneapolis CEO Melvin Tennant says the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament starts Wednesday at Target Center and is sold out for the first time because of NCAA all-time scoring leader Caitlin Clark.
He says the event will have a major impact on tourism and hospitality businesses.
Tennant says they can showcase that Minneapolis is back as a destination. He adds that thousands of Target employees are also returning to work in downtown Minneapolis this week.
An estimated 109,000 fans are also expected and the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament is at Target Center next week. Tennant says the world’s largest gathering of physicists is also going to the Minneapolis Convention Center this week.
