WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven has announced $10 million in funding from the FAA for the Hector International Airport Terminal Expansion Project.
As a member of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee, Hoeven said he worked to secure the award and continues his efforts to fulfill the federal cost share of more than $80 million for the estimated $155 million project, which includes expanding the current terminal building to nine gates, an apron expansion and a new parking garage with an elevated walkway.
In November, hosted a meeting in Washington between FAA Associate Administrator for Airports Shannetta Griffin and members of the Fargo Airport Authority to advance progress on the terminal expansion project.
“Fargo-Moorhead is a dynamic region with ever-growing demands on its transportation infrastructure, including at Hector International. That’s why we worked to secure this $10 million grant for Fargo’s terminal expansion project, part of the more than $80 million overall federal cost share,” said Hoeven. “With construction to start this spring, the award provides a welcome boost for efforts to expand and update this critical facility.”
In addition, the FAA awarded $700,000 for the Standing Rock Airport to support the construction of a general aviation terminal building, providing a structure for pilots, staff and passengers to get out of the elements.
