
Leland “Lee” Kost,74, Harvey, ND died Friday, February 2, 2024 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery, Bowdon following the service.
Leland Wayne Kost was born December 9, 1949 at Mayville, ND to Wayne and Phyllis (Goughnour) Kost. He graduated from Bowdon High School in 1967. Lee became a respiratory therapist while working at the Bismarck Hospital. Several years later he attended and graduated from the Baylor State University of Texas with a degree in Mortuary Science. In 1976 he was employed by St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey and was the Respiratory Therapy Department Director. He married Audrey Eng and they were blessed with a son, Brandon Lee in 1977. After his career at the hospital, Lee became a truck driver for several companies and retired from Roadway Trucking. He later moved to Harvey where he spent his remaining years. Lee had many cowboy friends as he enjoyed riding horses and team penning competitions. He was frequently pulling a horse trailer and drove a nice pick-up. Lee was a true cowboy with a nice hat, a horse “Big Enough” and his dog “Jack.”
Lee is survived by his son, Brandon of Bismarck; stepdaughter, Tammy Delahunt of Park Rapids; friends Audrey, Shelly and Paul Schindler; two sisters, LaVonne (Curt) Beckler of Fergus Falls, MN and Lucinda (Steve) Wallner of Wahpeton, ND; brother, Kelly (Pat) Kost of Bismarck,ND nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Christopher Kost.
