DAKOTA COUNTY, MINN. โ It may be hard to believe but the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District in the Twin Cities said they found their first deer tick of the year on Monday in Dakota County. Itโs quite early, they said itโs not unheard of.
Alex Carlson with the Mosquito Control District said they typically see ticks emerge in March or April. Without more cold days, he suspects there may be a more severe tick season in the spring.
Experts also recommend pet owners check for ticks daily, and watch closely for changes in behavior and appetite.
