POLK COUNTY, MINN. (KFGO) – Two people are safe after their pickup plunged through the ice on Union Lake southwest of Erskine, Minnesota around 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the truck went through the ice in an area of narrows on the west side of the lake that has approximately five inches of ice.
Both occupants of the pickup were able to get out and made it to shore however, the vehicle sank to the bottom of the lake. Erskine Fire and the Minnesota DNR marked where the vehicle went in.
There were no injuries.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office warns of unpredictable and changing ice conditions with the recent warm weather.
