Officer killed during pursuit in southeast South Dakota

FLANDREAU, S.D. (KFGO) – A law enforcement officer was killed during a pursuit in Moody County in southeastern South Dakota Friday.   

Attorney General Marty Jackley confirmed an officer died, but hasn’t released a name or what agency the officer was with.   

“Our hearts go out to the officer’s family and all those serving in the officer’s department,” Jackley said. “The State Division of Criminal Investigation, Highway Patrol, and local law enforcement agencies are cooperating to provide a complete and thorough investigation.”

Jackley said one person was arrested in connection with the incident and there is no threat to the public.
