MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Demolition of the Moorhead Center Mall is underway.
Developer Jim Roers says crews are working on tearing down the western third of the mall in what he calls a three-phased approach to the demolition. He expects that to be completed in about 30 days before they begin phase two, which is the south portion where the new library and community center will go.
Roers says he expects that to be completed by the middle of April or first of May.
The final phase of the demolition will be east of City Hall.
“That is an area where a lot of the existing tenants that are going to be relocated into the downtown area are going to remain until approximately spring of 2025. Some of them will be out in 2024, but some in 2025,” Roers said. “So, we don’t see that final phase of demolition taking place until into 2025.”
Roers says crews will begin working on new construction this spring.
“It’s not going to show like a lot, but come mid- to late-summer, you’re going to feel like this is a very active development location in town,” Roers said.
