FARGO (KFGO) – Joel Vettel has announced his candidacy for Cass County Commission.
Vettel says his experience ranges from public safety as a 19-year Fargo police officer to community engagement as executive director of the Fargo Park District. Prior to that, he was a member of the park district board. Currently, he works at Sanford Health Foundation.
Vettel is seeking the commission’s District 5 seat, now held by Commissioner Mary Scherling. She has served a maximum of three 4-year terms.
County Commissioner Jim Kapitan, in his first four-year term in District 3, announced earlier in January, that he plans to seek reelection.
Chad Peterson is also completing the maximum three terms on the county commission. He is currently the commission chair.
The county commission election is in June.
